[C]Spaces plan and promote nearly three dozen gallery exhibitions each year, as well as fiction and poetry readings, film and video screenings, music, theater and dance performances, most of which showcase student work to the public. This open call student exhibition explores and examines the New Americana. Many of today's ideals, ethics and climates can be identified as American. Definition can be drawn from consumerism, direct marketing techniques and fast foods to family values, sexuality, entertainment and environmental landscape. New Americana presents Columbia College students' depictions, declarations and discoveries about American culture.
