Everyday Runway: Asian Street Fashion and Beyond

Opening Reception: Thursday, March 13, 5 -7p.m.

In today’s cutting-edge fashion scene, many designers find inspiration in Asian street fashion and its fast-forward, bold, and creative mix of east and west, high and low, couture and the homemade. Everyday Runway: Asian Street Fashion and Beyond provides a snapshot of the fast-changing trends in contemporary Asian style. Through garments, accessories, videos, fashion magazines, illustrated personal stories as well as photographs, this exhibit reflects on the formation, display and performance of Asian urban aesthetics and youth identity and its influence on American popular culture.

Organized by the Center for Asian arts and Media, this exhibit features a wide array of works by photographers, designers and street artists as well as collaborations with local collectors and boutiques. Everyday Runway captures the urban, cosmopolitan and multicultural spirit of contemporary style in Japan and Korea while taking a look at the trends and influences of street fashion in American pop culture.

C33 Space is a gallery and a space for students to gather and have events which have no technical needs. There is no sound system, but there is a podium with a microphone. There is no food service. As the student population grows, so do requests from students for places to congregate, exhibit and perform. We reserve the common areas under [C] Spaces primarily for students. We request that those requiring meeting space try to utilize classrooms and other facilities for their meetings.
